NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR
From the feedback we have received, I feel grateful that we have achieved our goal of “Creating a Culture of Kindness” here within our wonderful community. My hope is that we can continue to cultivate kindness in our greater communities so that many more will feel the ripple effect. Thank YOU all for your time, dedication and commitment to your families. Those of you moving on, we will miss you, wish you well, and hope you continue to spread the word about Little Wonders. Those of you coming back, we look forward to more memorable time together. Happy Summer!
LITTLE WONDERS FUND FOR THE FUTURE
This chapter of your parenting journey may be coming to an end, but all you have learned, the friends you have made, and your connection to your own Little Wonders are just beginning. In the hope that this school can continue to serve families like yours for generations to come, we are creating the Little Wonders Fund for the Future. While technically a “quasi-endowment,” the goal of this fund is to designate a portion of Little Wonders’ investments (starting with $25,000) as a long-term rainy day fund to assure the continuity and longevity of Little Wonders as a program. In short, this fund is meant to keep Little Wonders' doors open. Before Mireille retires as Director in June 2020, she hopes that families like yours will help double the initial corpus of this fund. So let’s start this fundraising campaign off with a bang - make your end-of-year donation today.
LOST AND FOUND
Someone has lost an important envelope at Little Wonders. It contained cash and we’d like to get this to the owner. Please contact Mireille at firstname.lastname@example.org and let me know if you lost an envelope and what might have been in it so we can make sure it gets to its rightful owner. Also our lost and found is FULL!
END OF YEAR SURVEY - REOPENED
We only heard back from a handful of you on the End of Year Survey, so we have reopened it in the hopes of receiving more feedback. If you have 5 minutes (during naptime, after the kiddos are in bed, etc), please help us make Little Wonders even better.
FINAL SCHOOL WASH - SATURDAY, JUNE 1
The final school wash of the year will be held on Saturday, June 1. All Thursday PM2 families should have received an Evite with further details. If you are in a different class and have not yet fulfilled your school wash obligation for the 2018-19 school year (through service or buy-out), please contact email@example.com ASAP.
GRATITUDE CORNER: RECOGNIZING THE BOARD
As our school year comes to a close, we would like to take a moment to recognize and thank the members of our community who served on the 2018-19 Little Wonders Board of Directors: Shannon Adams Ferris (President), Becky DiMarco (VP Registrar), Jenna D'Angelo (Secretary), Elizabeth Euresti (VP Liaison), Danielle Lutticken (Events), Jackie Hsu (Development), Marisa Mendoza (Jobs), Stephanie O'Grady (Publicity), Trevor Mack (Facilities), Sandy Steiner (San Mateo Council Rep), Ana Grasberger (Treasurer), Susan Schmidt (Technology May through December), and Ann Fox (Technology January through May). Y’all rock. :)
WRAPPING UP SCHOOL FINANCES
Our Fiscal year ends May 31 and we are trying to get all invoices and reimbursements paid in this next week to allow time for reconciliation. Special thanks to our invoice coordinators and to our keepsake coordinator for getting all invoices out. PLEASE do check your inbox and we appreciate your prompt payments.
WRITE A REVIEW AND SHARE LITTLE WONDERS WITH YOUR FRIENDS
Have you enjoyed your time at Little Wonders this year? If you have, please help other families find us by writing a review on NextDoor, Yelp, or even Google Maps. If you haven’t, please do e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org and/or fill out the End of Year Survey (above) to let us know what didn’t work for you.
REGISTRATION CONTINUES FOR SUMMER AND FALL
You can still register for Summer and Fall! Some Pre-Registration roles and the Technology and Facilities Board positions are also still available - and they come with the class of your choice rather than the class lottery! Check out the Pre-Reg jobs here, and Board positions here. When you see something that interests you, contact email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org and we will put you in touch with the person currently in that role to find out more.
SPECIAL EVENT INVITATION
KidPower, A Child Protection Workshop for Adults ONLY is being given at Carlmont Parents Nursery School on Monday May 20 from 7-9 PM. Flyer is up in classroom and please contact Mireille email@example.com for more info or if you plan to attend.
KONSTELLA ARCHIVING & CONTINUED CLASS COMMUNICATIONS
2018-2019 Konstella classrooms will be archived over the summer (date TBD). We hope that you will continue to keep in touch with your classmates via other means. See your Class Liaison for more details!
CO-OP JOB COMPLETION FORM
Have you filled out your job completion form yet? We use the feedback to improve each school job; assess the number of hours each job takes; and accurately describe each job on our website so that next year’s families have clear pictures of each position. The co-op job completion form is very brief and will take about 3 minutes to complete. Please click the link below to go to the form website (or copy and paste the link into your internet browser):
A HUGE thank you to the social media and blog teams for their work this year! We had some great posts and started a new series, Parents of Little Wonders, which we hope will continue next school year with the new Publicity team.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
Parent 1: Are we supposed to open the sand table?
Teacher Suzanne: I’m hoping someone will!
Parent 1: OK, good. (*looking at the swarm of 3-year-olds outside*) They’ve taken control.
Parent 2: The animals are running the farm!
Have you heard something hilarious or poignant in class recently? Send your “quote of the week” to firstname.lastname@example.org. (Or send in a photo!)
