SLAM POETRY RETURNED TO LB!
Last week, Littlebook was thrilled to welcome back longtime artist-in-residence Gayle Danley for a weeklong Slam Poetry residency for 4th and 5th grade, funded annually by our PTO. Gayle Danley is a national award-winning poet, who travels the country working with students on both writing and reciting poetry. She opened the week with an inspiring assembly where Gayle performed her own original pieces. Then each class held three workshop sessions with Gayle, where students learned towring, fling, bling and sing. The residency culminated in two grade-level assemblies, with students sharing their own poems. Honest, touching, funny, clever, emotional, heart-warming… and so much more. What a wonderful week!
