Dear Llewellyn Families,
As you may already know, PPS is embarking on a process that will consolidate/right-size/close some schools in the district. This is sure to be a difficult process, and we know the pain this will cause families and communities in Portland.
We encourage you to attend (in-person or virtually) one or more of the listening sessions the district has scheduled over the next few weeks and make your voice heard. If you do, please feel very free to speak your truth and tell your story. If you're feeling at a loss for what to say, here are some suggested talking points:
- The Llewellyn community - families, staff, and administration - stand ready and willing to warmly welcome additional students to Llewellyn as needed.
- Llewellyn (both the school and the neighborhood) is/are not in close proximity to any other elementary schools.
- Our physical plant is in pretty good shape, compared to much of the district. We are putting a great deal of resources into revamping our outdoor space, and we hope that children will be able to benefit from that.
- If you have questions or thoughts about this process, please don't hesitate to reach out to Principal Collins or to Jonathan Pulvers, chair of the PTA Advocacy Committee.
Thank you,
Llewellyn PTA
