The Great Kindness Challenge The California Department of Education is encouraging all schools to participate in The Great Kindness Challenge Week, happening January 22-January 26. This week is about promoting a culture of acceptance and tolerance that will hopefully last beyond this one week.
This week students will be encouraged to perform as many acts of kindness as possible. Acts of kindness include not only being kind to others but being kind to yourself, to animals and to the Earth. Our counselor has provided teachers with daily quotes, blank notes for students to write kind notes to others, checklists with examples of kind acts and other resources to promote this week with their students.
Additionally, the following Spirit Days will accompany The Great Kindness Challenge Week:
Monday - Dreaming of a Kinder World - Wear Your Pajamas Today!
Tuesday - Hats off to Kindness - Wear a Hat Today!
Wednesday - Longfellow Kids Are Kind Kids - Wear Your Longfellow Gear Today!
Thursday - Tied Together by Kindness - Wear a Tie Today!
Friday - Powered by Kindness - Dress Like a Super Hero Today!
