Help needed for social media video to keep librarians in our libraries
Maplewood Elementary

Ms. Bass has found a great way to keep support for our librarians going forward by adding us to this social media challenge. Do any of you know (or are) a tech savvy volunteer that can organize this?

Our campus is signed up to post a video on Friday, October 25th.

“That’s My Librarian” Social Media Challenge

The purpose of this social media challenge is to build positive momentum and support for librarians and library media specialists during the current budget cut discussions and to raise awareness and build support for our roles.

A key theme of this challenge is positivity and joy.

(Think the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, circa 2014)

How it works:

  1. A campus will sign up for a date (Maplewood's day is October 25th) to post their video to social media platforms using the hashtag: #Thatsmylibrarian
  2. In your video, students, admin, teachers/school staff, parents, and community members will talk about the many awesome things you do for your school community (think of this as a librarian appreciation post). After each person shares, they’ll say: “That’s my librarian!”
  3. Creatively mashup your recorded video clips into one video to post.  Work together/collaborate with others on your campus who are tech savvy, who can help you, if need be.
  4. Post your video to your school’s social media pages (Jinny McCall can help).  Tag the Austin ISD library page: @AustinISDLibs and the next school on the list found here. For example: Tag @oakpringselem, you’re it!
