Greetings All!

Phil your friendly PTA Parliamentarian here with some exciting(?) announcements:

1) Our Maplewood PTA Bylaws and Standing Rules must be updated this year to stay in compliance with Texas PTA. Attached to this announcement you will find final drafts of our new Bylaws, Standing Rules, and the report our Bylaws Committee created to explain each change. These documents must be provided 30 days prior to the general membership meeting where they will be voted on, and that meeting will take place next month on May 14, 2026. While we have not made dramatic changes, and in many cases are not allowed to, we did make changes and request that members familiarize themselves with those changes prior to the ratification vote next month.  All changes are highlighted for easy reference.
2) Also required by our current Bylaws is the formation of a Nominating Committee to find and recruit next year's PTA officers. The committee is formed via a vote of the membership at any meeting, so we are calling a Special PTA Meeting this Friday, April 17, 2026, at 5PM at Fairways Cantina to incorporate the committee. This meeting will literally take 5 minutes to execute and the committee is successfully formed with quorum (10 members) and a plurality vote. Please attend if you can.
