COMPARTA SU VOZ EN LA BÚSQUEDA DE DIRECTOR(A)

¿Recibió un correo ayer sobre la búsqueda de director(a) para Maplewood? ¿Tiene preguntas sobre por qué recibió ese correo, por qué estamos haciendo esta búsqueda, cómo funciona todo el proceso y qué debería hacer usted al respecto, si es que debe hacer algo?

 

No está solo(a).

 

Versión corta: el año pasado, el distrito nombró a la Sra. Conley como directora interina, con el plan de llevar a cabo una búsqueda y proceso de contratación completo este otoño.

 

Ese proceso comienza ahora (bueno, más o menos; el enlace a la encuesta comunitaria que venía en el correo de ayer está caído por el momento; le avisaremos cuando vuelva a funcionar).

Sus próximos pasos:

  1. Si la idea de MÁS CAMBIOS le trae ecos del trauma de incertidumbre del año pasado, recuerde con calma que Maplewood está PROSPERANDO, que estamos todos juntos en esto, y que este proceso de contratación siempre fue el plan. El puesto interino se nombró precisamente para permitir un proceso de contratación cuidadoso y bien pensado.

  2. Únase a la reunión comunitaria este jueves 1 de octubre, a las 5:30pm, para dar su opinión sobre el "perfil del director/a" — es decir, las cualidades y experiencia que le gustaría que tuviera el próximo director o directora de Maplewood. Se ofrecerá cuidado de niños.

BUENO, VOLVAMOS A LA PROGRAMACIÓN REGULAR

 

 

PRÓXIMAMENTE

  • 1 de octubre, 5:30pm: Reunión sobre el Perfil del Director/a. Se ofrecerá cuidado de niños.

  • 2 de octubre: Café con la directora. Quédese después de dejar a sus hijos para tomar un café y escuchar a la Sra. Conley.

  • 7 de octubre: Día de Ir a la Escuela en Bicicleta. Tendremos grupos de "bike bus" reuniéndose a las 7:15am en Cherrywood Green y en Mueller; pronto compartiremos más detalles.

  • 9 de octubre: no hay clases

  • 12 de octubre: no hay clases; conferencias de padres y maestros

  • 15 de octubre:

    • Hora por confirmar... probablemente alrededor de las 5pm... Noche LatinX. Este evento es organizado por las clases de Doble Inmersión y es PARA todos.

    • 6-9pm: Evento comunitario: sesión bipartidista de preguntas y respuestas con candidatos al Concejo Municipal y a la Mesa Directiva de Austin ISD

  • 18 de octubre, 9am-1pm: jornada de trabajo en el jardín y los terrenos de otoño

  • 24 de octubre: Fall Fest

  • 30 de octubre, generalmente en la mañana, pero la hora está por confirmarse: desfile de Personajes Favoritos de Libros (los niños se disfrazan y desfilan por la pista; los cuidadores pueden asistir, y se anima a todos a disfrazarse también).

 

 

DINERO, DINERO, DINERO

¡Hemos recaudado $35,672 dólares, es decir, el 20% de nuestra meta!

 

Una gran parte de eso vino de la venta de ladrillos. Todavía puede dejar su legado, o el de un maestro o miembro del personal querido, hasta mañana, así que aprovéchelo.

 

El próximo mes, todos estaremos trabajando para alcanzar esa oferta de $40,000 dólares en fondos igualados que una familia de Maplewood generosamente ofreció a nuestra escuela.

 

Estaré de vuelta en su bandeja de entrada la próxima semana con una edición especial sobre por qué seguimos pidiendo dinero y cómo lograr que dejemos de hacerlo, ya. 🤗

 

 

YA TENEMOS MUY BUENOS CANDIDATOS

Maplewood Elementary está contratando para tres puestos, y ya tenemos candidatos muy prometedores, incluyendo maestros y trabajadores sociales jubilados que además son vecinos de la comunidad. Todavía hay tiempo para compartir estas vacantes si conoce a algún buen candidato:

 

  1. Interventor(a)/Tutor(a) de Matemáticas — 20 hrs/semana, en horario escolar (horario flexible), $30/hora

    Apoya a estudiantes en grupos pequeños o de manera individual con habilidades matemáticas. Se prefiere experiencia en enseñanza, tutoría o intervención.

  2. Interventor(a)/Tutor(a) de Lectura — 20 hrs/semana, en horario escolar (horario flexible), $30/hora

    Apoya a estudiantes en grupos pequeños o de manera individual con habilidades de lectura. Se prefiere experiencia en enseñanza, tutoría o intervención.

  3. Supervisor(a) del Comedor — 15 hrs/semana, lunes a viernes, 10am–1pm, $15/hora

    Supervisa a los estudiantes durante el almuerzo y ayuda a mantener el orden y la seguridad. No se requiere experiencia — solo paciencia y una presencia tranquila.

SHARE YOUR VOICE IN THE PRINCIPAL SEARCH

Did you get an email yesterday about the Maplewood principal search? Do you have questions about why you got that email —why we're searching and how it all works and what you should be doing about it, if anything?

 

You're not alone.

 

Short version: last year, the district appointed Ms. Conley interim principal, with the plan to conduct a full principal search and hiring process this fall.

 

That process starts now (well, sort of; the community survey link in yesterday's email is currently OOO; we'll update you when it's back online).

  1. If the prospect of MORE CHANGE is triggering echoes of last years uncertainty whiplash trauma, snuggle deep into the knowledge that Maplewood is THRIVING, we're all in this together, and that this hiring process was always the plan. The interim role was appointed precisely to allow for a thorough, thoughtful hiring process.

  2. Join the community meeting this Thursday, October 1, at 5:30pm to give your input on the 'principal profile' - AKA what qualities and experience you'd like Maplewood's next principal to bring to the role. Childcare provided.

OKAY, BACK TO REGULAR PROGRAMMING

  • Last chance to get a custom brick for your family, or follow Ms. Martin's lead and gift a brick to a teacher or staff member you appreciate. 🥰

  • Drop off your outgrown Halloween costumes in the front entry way for a costume swap. (Donate now through October 23; the swap begins 9/29)

  • Check to see if your employer offers donation matching. It's the easiest way to double your impact when you give to Maplewood or any other organization you care about.

  • Opt in to this consent form to allow Ms. Land to have a 1 minute meeting - a quick get to know you and check in - with your student.

  • We need a few more gratitude ambassadors to support staff appreciation activities.

  • October 2: Principal's Coffee. Stay after drop off to drink coffee and hear from Ms. Conley.

  • October 7: Bike to School Day. We'll have bike bus groups meeting up at 7:15am at Cherrywood Green and in Mueller; more details on their way.

  • October 12: No school; parent teacher conferences

    • Time TBD... probably 5ish ... LatinX night. This event is put on by Dual Language classes and is FOR everyone.

    • 6-9pm: Community Event: Bi-partisan meet the City Council/Austin ISD candidates Q&A

  • October 18, 9am-1pm: Fall Garden + Grounds work day

  • October 24: Fall Fest

  • Oct 30, usually in the morning, but time to be confirmed: Favorite Book Character parade (kids dress up and parade around the track; caregivers welcome to attend, costumes encouraged for everyone).

 

 

 

MONEY MONEY MONEY

SO MANY GOOD APPLICANTS ALREADY

Maplewood Elementary is hiring for three open positions, and we've got some really promising applicants already, including retired teachers and social workers who also happen to be neighbors. There's still time to share these positions if you know any good candidates:

 

  1. Math Interventionist/Tutor — 20 hrs/wk, during school hours (flexible scheduling), $30/hr

    Support students in small groups or 1:1 with math skills. Teaching, tutoring, or intervention experience preferred.

  2. Reading Interventionist/Tutor — 20 hrs/wk, during school hours (flexible scheduling), $30/hr

    Support students in small groups or 1:1 with reading skills. Teaching, tutoring, or intervention experience preferred.

  3. Lunchroom Monitor — 15 hrs/wk, Monday–Friday, 10am–1pm, $15/hr

    Supervise students during lunch, help keep things safe and running smoothly. No experience required — patience and a calm presence.
