The Roundup (Oct 16)
Fri, Oct 16 11:02am

Good morning, Peacemakers,

The dual language classes, with special guest Mariachi Para Todos, put on a showstopper of a LatinX celebration last night. Huge thanks to teachers, staff, and Austin Soundwaves for bringing us all together for music, history, and celebration.

TO DO

STAFF APPRECIATION 🙌

Ms. Goode "is working really hard with great ideas to help calm down the cafeteria. This will help the whole school run better 😄 and help our students be good citizens!" - Ms. Bass

🚌 Next week is Transportation Employees Appreciation Week!

Please thank Larry Walker, Mr. Will, Mr. Allen, Jacqueline Hernandez, Daniel (Dan) Anderson, Manuel (Manny) Diaz, Evette Baldwin, and Debora Espinoza for helping our students travel to and from school safely!

LET'S MAKE A RAINBOW TOGETHER

We've raised over $70k total for the year (38%!), and starting next week, we'll represent that incredible generosity by creating a rainbow on the front lawn.

If you've contributed to Maplewood this year, your student can decorate a flag in their grade-level color and the PTA will plant them in the front lawn to make a rainbow showing how much our community shows up for Maplewood.

We'll have flags and markers out front of the school each morning Oct 19-30, a few after school pick ups, and at Fall Fest.

Grade level colors:

  • PreK = pink
  • K = red
  • 1 = orange
  • 2 = yellow
  • 3 = green
  • 4 = blue
  • 5 = white

It's honor system - no flag decorator turned away - and please do pitch in if you're able.

CALENDAR

  • This Sunday October 18, 8am-1pm: Fall Garden + Grounds work day, with the goal of setting up the school for outdoor learning. Come for any part of that time, and no need to bring supplies.

  • October 21: wear orange for Unity Day

  • October 24, 3-5pm: Fall Fest, please volunteer, and please donate treats for trunk or treat.

  • ✅ TIME CONFIRMED: Friday, Oct 30, 8:30am: favorite book character costume parade around the track. Enter at the gate by the parking lot to come watch.

CALENDARIO
