tl;dr you gotta come to this party, for five very specific reasons.

Why you need to get yourself to The Big Mingle on May 16:

1. Open taco. Open bar. Open paletas (popsicles). Open aguas frescas (juices). OPEN EVERYTHING. Even if you don't want to hang out, just come have a taco and then ghost.

2. Open schedule. There are no speakers, no speeches, no fundraising, no polite clapping, no stifled yawns. We are literally just here to party.

3. Come as you are. This year has been ... A LOT. We've collectively raged and schemed and cried and strategized and resented and advocated and whispered and worried and shifted and and and. Some of us are still carrying things that haven't fully resolved. Some of us just want to dance. Some of us are looking for an excuse to see if the tuxedo still fits. Some of us are team cargo shorts for life. It's all okay. Bring yourself, just as you are.

4. Make something cool. Make a letterpress poster of our beloved school building, and take it home with you. It's free for teachers and staff, $40 suggested donation for everyone else. Don't have the funds right now? Make one anyway. No crafter turned away.

5. It might be fun. This is, after all, a party. We’ve got Austin’s best DJ, tacos, and each other. Why not lean into some uncomplicated joy?

Sin pena pero con algo de culpa, les mandamos otro correo en esta temporada en la que los mensajes no paran.

En resumen: tienen que venir a esta fiesta, y tenemos cinco razones muy concretas para decirlo.

¿Ya tiene boletos y cuidado infantil? Perfecto. Puede ignorar este mensaje sin remordimientos.

Por qué tiene que estar en The Big Mingle el 16 de mayo:

1. Tacos libres. Barra libre. Paletas libres. Aguas frescas libres. TODO LIBRE. Si no le apetece socializar, venga, cómase un taco y desaparezca sin decir adiós.
2. Agenda libre. No hay ponentes, ni discursos, ni recaudación de fondos, ni aplausos de cortesía, ni bostezos disimulados. Esto es, literalmente, una fiesta y nada más.
3. Venga como es. Este año ha sido... MUCHO. Entre todos hemos protestado, planeado, llorado, estrategizado, nos hemos resentido, hecho defensa, susurrado, preocupado, adaptado, y seguimos. Algunos todavía cargamos cosas que no se han resuelto del todo. Otros simplemente quieren bailar. Hay quien busca una excusa para ver si el esmoquin todavía le queda. Y hay quien es del equipo shorts-para-siempre. Todo está bien. Venga tal como es.
4. Cree algo especial. Haga un póster en tipografía de imprenta de nuestro querido edificio escolar y lléveselo a casa. Es gratis para maestros y personal; para todos los demás, se sugiere una donación de $40. ¿No tiene los fondos ahora mismo? Hágalo igual. No rechazamos a ningún artista.
5. Puede que se divierta. Al fin y al cabo, esto es una fiesta. Tenemos al mejor DJ de Austin, tacos y los unos a los otros. ¿Por qué no dejarse llevar por una alegría sin complicaciones?
