Meadowbrook Farms School
1 day before
As part of one of EGEF's (East Greenwich Education Foundation's) grants this year, Meadowbrook Farms Elementary School staff will learn additional techniques on how to incorporate "mindfulness breaks" into the school day as a way to calm, focus and allow students to self regulate. This is an extension of a highly successful 2017-2018 school wide initiative.
In addition, a parent workshop will take place on Tuesday, August 28th at 4pm at Meadowbrook, which is open to all parents in the EG school district. This workshop dovetails with a training for Meadowbrook staff earlier in the day.
Recognizing that children need balance and focus in their lives, Lani Rosen-Gallagher (M.Ed., RYT 200, RCYT) first incorporated yoga into her daily schedule while teaching first grade over 20 years ago. Dozens of kids yoga and mindfulness trainings later, she created Full of Joy Yoga and set out on the path of bringing yoga to kids into their school day. She is passionate about improving the lives of children through yoga and mindfulness and loves creating new fun ways to reach that goal.
We know the timing of the parent workshop is not ideal the day before school starts. However, Lani Rosen-Gallagher has busy schedule and offered to attach this parent component to the training she is doing for Meadowbrook staff on the same day.
This is a great opportunity for parents to learn more about mindfulness. Hope to see you there!
