Bylaws Training at Next Week's Council Meeting
Fri, Apr 6 9:50am

Hello Everyone,

Milpitas Council, along with Sixth District, will be providing training on how to update your unit bylaws. I have recently been informed that ALL but two of our units are past due for an update(including Council!).

Linda Pfeifer, Sixth District's Parliamentarian, will attend our meeting, and will deliver a 10-15 minute presentation on how to update bylaws, and will be available afterwards for questions.

Please see list below to see if your unit requires an update. It is strongly recommended that PTA bylaws be reviewed annually with an update to the most current edition of the standard bylaws at least every 2 years. Many of our units are considerably overdue.

Please bring the most recent copy (dated below under "bylaws" column) of your bylaws to our meeting. If you do not have a current copy, please let me know ASAP so I can get you a copy.

Updating bylaws is a long process (can take months!), and requires knowledge of the day-to-day workings of your unit PTA's. Please commence the process now, and do not wait until your successors take over. They may not know how to correctly execute the update (would you have wanted this task when you were first elected?!?).  You can begin the process now, and hand off the approval portion to the next board, if your term expires this year.

Unit bylaws can be updated online, via the E-Bylaws system. You will need to request a username and password prior to receiving access to the system. Once your access is granted, you may then "Build E-Bylaws."

Please let me know if you have any questions (you may reply directly to this email), and I look forward to seeing you all at next week's Council Meeting : )
