DONATED $1,031.32 TO NAPA VALLEY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
MVSA collected $1,031.32 from MVE students to help the Northern California fire victims. The check was cashed by Napa Valley Community Foundation. Thanks to all our children with big hearts!
MAGIC FAMILY SCIENCE NIGHT:
Are you ready to join our first ever family science night on January 26th, from 6:30pm to 8:00pm? The science night is a very popular event hosted by Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose. Please make sure to block your calendar and enjoy a fun night with the other Mission Valley families. Space is limited, please purchase your tickets on Konstella. Pre-sale will end on 1/25.
This time the theme is Science Magic. Find out the surprising science secrets behind some of the world’s popular magic tricks. Make a paperclip levitate using magnetic force. Use a wand of static electricity to command a spinning straw and a floating butterfly. Watch as water defies gravity and students perform science magic tricks that will amaze their family and friends!
We have completed two Math Olympiads contests in November and December. The next contest is scheduled on January 24. The Mathcounts Chapter competition is coming up in a month on February 10. Tryout was complete.
Science Bowl: For the first time Mission Valley will compete at the regional Science Bowl event to be held on Jan 27th. The National Science Bowl (NSB) is a high school and middle school science knowledge competition using a quiz bowl format. Teams face-off in a fast-paced question-and-answer format, being tested on a range of science disciplines including biology, chemistry, earth science, physics, energy, and math.
Science Olympiad Div B: Registration is complete for One Mission Valley team this year. Middle school students compete in 'events' pertaining to various scientific disciplines. Regional event is on March 10, 2018.
Elementary Science Olympiad: Registration is complete for mission valley teams competing in the Elementary Science Olympiad (ESO) to be held on April 21st 2018. This year we have eight teams across 4th, 5th & 6th grades.
2018-19 HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Halloween Carnival is the biggest event hosted by MVSA each year. This is one of our traditional events that the kids and families love and enjoy. Since the event happens soon after the school year starts, we would like to recruit volunteers to help planning the coming school year.
Thank you Javida Rahmanzai, Suzie Kyauk, Sirisha Yarida,Leah Rodriguez, Aruna Gummalla who signed up to help with the 2017-18 yearbook along with our chair Lavanya Miryala. Congratulations to Lijuan Chen and Jai Krish who will be Yearbook co-chairs in the 2018-19 school year!
