Upcoming elections for MVSA officers

Dear Mission Valley community,

The Annual Meeting of the MVSA has been rescheduled to Tuesday, May 20 from 7-8pm via Zoom. We are still in need of candidates for MVSA President and MVSA Vice President. Serving as a board member is an extremely rewarding way to give back to the community, help shape the experiences of students, and add new skills to your resume!

The school year is quickly coming to an end, so it is almost time to elect the MVSA officers who will guide the Mission Valley School Association through the next school year.

I am amazed and grateful for all the new volunteers who have stepped up this year, as well as the returning volunteers who have provided a steady hand. We are still working to build our volunteer network after post-pandemic lows, and especially need parents who are willing to step into leadership positions for a year or two, and then pass their knowledge to the next group of volunteers.

I encourage all MVE parents to consider running for an officer position, encouraging others to run, or signing up to lead a committee for next year.

All officer positions (President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary) are up for election, but we have a particular need for a new President and Vice President. Any of these positions can be shared. As the current President, I am unable to continue due to term limits and time constraints, but am willing to stay on as Treasurer and provide guidance to the incoming officers.

Here are the responsibilities in brief:

President - Run meetings (includes proposing budgets), act as a liaison between the MVSA and the school Principal
Vice President - Organize the annual membership drive, coordinate the parent volunteers
Treasurer - Receive and disperse funds, file tax forms
Secretary - Keep minutes of all meetings

Elections will take place at the Annual Meeting of the MVSA on Tuesday, May 20 (rescheduled from May 6) from 7-8pm via Zoom. All MVSA members (those who have donated $25 or more in the current school year) are eligible to vote. You must be present at the meeting to run or to vote.
