Dear Monte Gardens Families,
As we move through the year, the staff and I continue to evaluate programs, events, and traditions with our students’ well-being and joy always at the center of our decision. This year, we're excited to share that our staff will be organizing our First Monte Gardens Halloween Parade, which will take place in the afternoon, on Friday, October 31st! In conjunction with our Red Ribbon Week theme, “Scare Away Bullies,” this fun and festive event will not only celebrate the creative spirit of the season, but also promote kindness, inclusion, and a safe, supportive environment for all of our students.
The Day-Friday, Oct. 31: Halloween Parade 1:15 to 2:15 (Hallways and black top/playground)
-
8:07: Parents do a normal drop off. (Students bring costumes in bags )
-
1:00 pm: Unless you hear from your classroom teacher about specific rules for this day - students will change into their costume at school at 1:00 pm (upper grades will assist with lower grades. Parents do not come to the room to help with costumes.)
-
Important Note: Every class has a certain style and program set up for the morning - If you get a letter from your classroom teacher regarding the morning activities - please follow their directions. Again - morning activities can vary from class to class, until the all school activity in the afternoon.
-
Parents are invited to attend and view / enter from side gate car pool area and you will be directed to a good viewing area on the blacktop/playground
-
-
1:15: Students will begin the Halloween costume walk (end of parade on blacktop)
-
1:45: Short activity / announcement on Blacktop - students return to class/do not change.
-
2:35: Regular dismissal / kids in costumes
A few important reminders to help the day run smoothly:
-
Costumes should be easy to put on, as students will change before the afternoon parade. Costumes must be put on over clothes. “Again - Do Not Come in Costume”
-
No toy weapons or violent props (such as swords, guns, or knives) are permitted at school.
-
Masks with limited vision or full-face coverings are discouraged. Students may wear masks (only during the parade) if they can see clearly through them and can safely move around.
-
Makeup should be kept to a minimum- no full face make up designs / no blood
We also want to recognize and respect the diverse cultures and beliefs within our community. If you prefer that your child not participate in the Halloween Parade, we completely understand. We will offer a special alternative activity in the library during that time. (please notify the teacher and office)
Thank you for your continued support in making this event safe, inclusive, and enjoyable for all students. We look forward to a fun morning of smiles, creativity, and community!
Warm regards,
Alexander Bennett
