Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee, a five-member body appointed by the Board President in the March general meeting, is comprised of one administrative representative, two Board Members, and two general members. The Nominating Committee ensures a fair and transparent election process by seeking qualified individuals who are willing to serve one of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Director of Fundraising, Director of Membership & Communications, and Parliamentarian officer positions for the following July 1 through June 30 academic year.

This Committee will be appointed in March. Parents/legal guardians interested in joining the committee or running for any elected position should email president@mgparents.org.

Upon appointment, the Nominating Committee shall:

  • Meet and confer prior to the April meeting to identify willing, eligible individuals for the officer positions listed above.
  • Present the list of candidates-by-office to the April general meeting.
  • Facilitate an election via electronic ballot prior to the May general meeting.
  • Present election results in the May general meeting.

The Nominating Committee Member ensures the integrity of the election process. Committee Members, comprised of two board members, two general members, and one administrative representative assigned by the Board President, shall participate in all Committee Meetings to review and plan the election process, gathers information on potential candidates, and verifies their eligibility. They proactively contact individuals to gauge their interest in running for office and compile a final slate of candidates for presentation to the membership. Coordinating the election process in accordance with the organization's bylaws, the Nominating Committee ensures fairness, transparency, and confidentiality. The Committee convenes in March of each year in preparation for April elections and May appointments. Regular updates are provided to the Executive Board beginning in March. Time commitment may vary based on time of year and corresponding work to complete.
