PFC Open positions and Concerts in the Grove volunteers needed for 5/17!
Mon, May 12 7:46pm

Dear MDE Families,

There are nearly 800 students at Mount Diablo Elementary. That’s 800 reasons we all care so deeply about this school—and why we work together to make it such a vibrant, joyful place for our kids.

This year, you've proved how amazing this community is by stepping up to fill open positions in the Parent Faculty Club (PFC).

We’ve filled more roles than ever before. But we’re down to the final few, and they truly matter.

It takes a village to bring our biggest community events and fundraisers to life. Without them, the things our kids have come to love—Movie Night, SquareOne Art and Concerts in the Park—are at risk of going dark.

If you’ve ever thought about getting involved, now’s the perfect time. You don’t need a ton of experience—just a willingness to pitch in and be part of something special.

Elected PFC Board Positions (open or pending nomination):

These roles will be voted on at the Tuesday, May 13 General Meeting at 7 PM in the MDE Library (Zoom option available).  For any positions with more than two candidates running, there will be a ballot vote.  For any positions with one candidate running, there will be a voice vote.  Any MDE parent or caregivers attending the General PFC meeting on May 13 are allowed to vote.  Zoom voting will also be available.  Parliamentarian Brian Jenney will set up anonymous voting via zoom for any ballot elections.

Current nominees for open PFC Board positions include:

  • President – Lindsay Gage Ring & Ted Meriam (running as Co-Presidents)

  • Co-Treasurer – Jessica Kimbrel

  • VP of Fundraising – Cheryl Layug

  • VP of Ed – Natasha Aria

  • VP of Events – Open (Co role, Sarah Brinkman is currently in term)

  • Communications Secretary - Christina Smith

  • Recording Secretary - Whitney O’Connor

Nominations for all board positions will remain open until the time voting takes place on May 13. All positions are 2 year terms.

Open Committee Roles (not elected):

These roles don’t require a vote—just a commitment to lead the committee and recruit other volunteers as needed:

Ed Fund

Plans and runs the school’s annual fundraising campaign, working closely with the VP of Fundraising and President(s)

  • SquareOne Art Committee

Coordinates the annual student artwork fundraiser with families and the vendor.

  • Movie Night

Help organize one of the most fun nights of the year.

  • Concerts in the Park

Coordinate volunteers for 4 summer concerts (in the Grove, Clayton), one per month from May to August. This also brings in revenue for our school!

To volunteer or ask any questions, please email: brianjenney83@gmail.com or laneycline@gmail.com

It only takes a few people to make a big difference. We’d love to have you be one of them.

With appreciation,

The MDE PFC Executive Board

Speaking of concerts in the grove, please see below!  The first concert is next week, 5/17!

Dear MDE parents. That time of year is upon us, the City of Clayton has lined up some amazing concerts in the Grove again for the summer of 2025! This year we have been asked to provide volunteers to collect donation for four out of the eight concerts. The city of Clayton will split the proceeds for the four concerts MDE provides volunteers for with our school.

The first concert of the season is Saturday May 17th. Volunteer parking is available through the city, and just like last year those who volunteer will receive a limited addition Concert in the Grove T-shirt.
