Did you know that September is Hunger Action Month?
In honor of this important month, our school is embarking on our effort to raise awareness around hunger and food insecurity in our community. We are participating in the newest project for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano county– Hunger Action Bags!
The Food Bank has a large supply of medium-sized brown paper bags, so our school has been invited to help decorate the bags with messages of hope and support for our unhoused population (see attached example), then fill them with a menu of food items as shown below on flyer.
The items in this menu can be purchased at your local grocery stores and warehouse stores (Costco/Sam’s Club) for approximately $5.00 per bag. Please buy individual items or items in bulk that we can fill the bags up with. Donations can be given to the office staff, and we will fill each decorated bag to donate to the Food Bank.
If your child would like to decorate a bag, please have them pick one up from the office, decorate it, and then return it to the office. We will take the items that have been donated and fill the bags. The Food Bank will be picking up all the bags to distribute on Monday, October 28th.
