North Beach Elementary PTA,
the Seattle Public Schools Budget Deficit,
and a System of Well Resourced Schools

UPDATE 11-15-23

Yesterday Seattle Public Schools made the announcement that as part of the continued efforts to balance the District’s budget and create a system of well-resourced schools there will be no recommended closures or consolidations for the 24-25 school year. This is great news for the coming year for North Beach and all students in Seattle Public Schools. The North Beach Elementary PTA applauds the District’s decision to slow the potential consolidation process and looks forward to community collaboration as we move forward. As a result of this news, there will not be a PTA Meeting on Thursday, 11/16.

It is also important to note that budget reducing measures are being proposed during the SPS Board meeting this evening. We encourage you to watch the meeting and learn about the proposals. Please tune in to the School Board Meeting at 4:15pm to hear the full recommendation. You may attend this meeting in person at the John Stanford Center or watch live on the SPS YouTube Channel. A synopsis and any documents shared will also be sent out in the Beachcomber this Friday.

Thank you to our community for your continued engagement with our school and PTA. Let’s return to the business at hand; let’s continue to improve our school, collaborate with our world-class educators, create a fun and engaging environment, and continue our mission to advocate for all students.

Go Seals!
