Open PTA Positions!
There are several open PTA positions and committees to join for the next school year. We welcome any participation, however much or little works for you. Thank you for considering how you can be a part of our awesome North Beach school! Email president@northbeachpta.org if you're interested in any of these roles, or have an idea for something else you'd like to do.
PTA Board Roles
These positions are on the PTA Board, and involve attending most of the PTA meetings (usually the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm in the school library, with a Zoom option as well).
Grade Level Representatives - The purpose of the position is to make sure that all grade levels and their interests are represented when we discuss PTA matters. Some of the grade levels have additional needs (e.g., 5th grade needs help organizing fundraising for 5th grade camp). ALL grade level positions (Pre-K through 5th) are open and are a great way to help out on the PTA without a large commitment. You can also sign up with a friend!
Advocacy - The Advocacy committee at North Beach consists of legislative and local advocacy.
-
Legislative: During the Legislative session, you'll forward advocacy alerts from the WSPTA to the community and encourage vocal support for legislative priorities. The Advocacy chair may also optionally attend the WSPTA Legislative Assembly in October. There they vote for the top five advocacy priorities for the state PTA.
-
Local: Stay abreast with School Board activities and report any pertinent advocacy to our community.
-
There are probably going to be budget cuts coming, so if this is something you are already interested in and you’d like to help by sharing the information with the community, please let us know!
Committees
We also have committees that help put on the various AWESOME events that North Beach puts on throughout the year, and they would love any help you could give! These committees do not require attendance at the monthly PTA meetings, but you’re always welcome!
Auction - the Auction committee meets throughout the year in order to plan our Auction. It’s a lot of work, but is also a lot of fun and is so important, as the Auction raises the bulk of the funds we use to support the school throughout the year. Auction Chairs this year are Leslie Kincaid and Lauren Jensen. There are several ways you can help – coordinate classroom kid art, auction games, the dessert dash; gather neighborhood business donations; manage the auction website; determine decor/theme for the actual party, and more.
Harvest Carnival - A beloved event at North Beach! Also an event that comes early in the school year, so if your early fall schedule is more open than winter or spring, this is the event for you!
Tree of Good Cheer - Help us spread the holiday giving spirit! This involves messaging our school community for donations and coordinating with school counselor Ms. Reid, who will share those donations with our families in need. In the past when we’ve raised extra money, we’ve shared funds with our neighborhood elementary schools. A commitment that only lasts for a couple weeks in early December!
STEM Night - We’ve had two awesome years of STEM Night with lots of participation from community partners such as Ingraham High School and various UW groups. This committee is fun and pretty straightforward, consisting mainly of reaching out to community partners early in the fall and coordinating their participation in our event.
Talent Show - We just had a successful and awesome talent show! Help us make this a consistent, annual event so our kids can get their creative sides out into the world!
Field Day - An end-of-year super fun event! Field Day is during the school day and consists of lots of fun games and activities. We have had lots of successful Field Days in the past, so all the games are already organized and the supplies are already gathered at the school. Do you have time at the end of the year to help celebrate the school year we’ve just finished? This is the event for you!
