PTA Volunteer Needs
for the remainder of the school year

As we continue into 2024 it's time to set our sights forward for the remainder of the school year. There are many exciting and easy opportunities to volunteer for the remainder of the year. Please look at the descriptions below and sign up for a committee you are interested in joining.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, ongoing
This ongoing committee continues the work of making North Beach a welcoming and inclusive environment! Members of this committee are asked to choose from a few projects: distributing premade kindness calendars and other materials from Random Acts of Kindness and the creation of a community closet for those students who may need some new or extra clothes, 

May Day Garden Party, Wednesday, 5/1 after school
Let's get our hands dirty by improving our school's grounds!
This group will meet once or twice before the event to plan garden projects and activities. then on Wednesday, 5/1 the group will help run the event. 

North Beach Appreciation Week, May 6th - 10th
Let's show our North Beach teachers and staff just how much we appreciate them!
This committee will meet one to three times to plan daily thank you to our teachers and staff. Past thank you have been organizing flowers, coffee and tea, lunch, and homemade cards.

Syttende Mai Parade, May 17th
Hipp, hipp, hurrah! North Beach is considering redoing the 17th of May Parade in Ballard. This group works closely with the school's Creative Advantage Team to help organize a uniquely North Beach entrance into the parade. 

PTA Awards, May, date TBD
Help acknowledge the volunteers, teachers, and staff that make our school run! Members of this committee will tabulate and present results from pretreated surveys for three PTA awards categories: Golden Acorn (volunteer), Teacher of the Year, and Advocate of the Year (teacher, staff, or volunteer). 

Coach's All Stars, June 14th
Let's get physical! This committee helps organize our field day and fundraiser in one. This last fundraiser is our smallest goal, but still vital to the PTA's mission. Help plan exciting activities for students to complete while easily raising money for the school. The group usually meets two to four times before the event.
If you are interested in volunteering for this event day off, hang tight! Volunteer sign ups will be available closer tot he date. 

Fifth Grade Promotion, June 21st (last day of school)
Join fellow 5th grade parents to plan a fun departure from elementary school. The group helps coordinate a last day of school assembly slideshow  and reception for the last day of school. In the past, the group has also organized a party at a local park. 
Volunteers will also be needed to help pass out cake and punch during the reception. Volunteer sign ups will be available closer to the event. 

Self Help Squad (as needed)
Have something you want to address at North Beach? A fading painting, a new mural, repairing railings? This is the place for you. Work collaboratively with the PTA to organize self help projects at North Beach. Together we can make a huge impact on our school!
