Class description…

“With improv, it’s a combination of listening and not trying to be funny…”  Kristen Wiig

In this class, students will be introduced to basic concepts of comedy improv such as “yes and” (enthusiastically accepting what is offered), “group mind” (listening to each other and working as a team) and “space object work” (miming objects and environments). Using warm-up exercises and “structures”, students will be encouraged to trust their instincts, think on their feet and support each other (it is said that a good improviser is one who makes his or her teammates look good).  They will also laugh a lot!

Once Upon Your Mind Teen Improv (ages 11–14)

Each week we will learn and practice improv exercises that build towards short form games so that they can be applied in a performance setting. Each class provides a comfortable environment with one on one teaching for each student. There is an optional performance at the end of the session.

All Students are welcome to come to as many of our Main Stage Improv shows at our theater so that they can see the cast perform what they are learning!
