Coronavirus Update from OSA Leadership
Fri, Feb 28 4:25pm

Dear OSA Community,

We  would like to update you on OSA’s response to and plans regarding the coronavirus. There's been a rise in anxiety in response to the CDC’s prediction of increased cases in the United States.

While we are preparing for the possibility of higher transmission rates, please be reminded that local health officials still believe the risk of contracting coronavirus in Alameda County is low.

We are monitoring updates from the Alameda County Public Health Department and the Alameda County Office of Education about the coronavirus. These county health officials have expertise and we will take their guidance on best practices regarding the coronavirus.

According to national, state, and local health officials, the best way to contain the spread of the coronavirus is to follow basic preventative measures for all respiratory ailments, including:

•Washing hands frequently

•Covering the nose and mouth with an arm or tissue when sneezing or coughing

•Avoiding contact with sick people

•Staying home when sick

•Cleaning surfaces frequently.

Our policy on campus will be to send home students who exhibit signs of fever, coughing, or labored breathing. We ask that if you or members of your family experience these situations to seek professional medical guidance for precautionary reasons.

We are committed to the health and safety of our students, staff, and greater community. We are monitoring and responding to health officials’ recommendations; and we will continue to keep our community apprised of the situation. Please note that you can find more information, as well as links to resources in multiple languages, on our coronavirus web page.

Thank You,

OSA Leadership Team
