Welcome, Class Leaders!

Class Leader Responsibilities: Class Leaders are responsible for planning classroom celebrations as requested by the teacher, communicating information to parents in their child's homeroom, organizing class gifts for the teacher(s)/paraprofessional(s) for the winter holiday and end-of-year, and working with the PTO on events as needed. Classroom celebrations may occur in December (winter celebration) and June (end or school year), with any other celebrations specified by the teacher. Other events may include grade level activities such as Field Day and No Child Left Inside Day.

Classroom Celebrations: Please follow the guidance of the teacher regarding classroom celebrations. A small craft or game is a great way to celebrate! If you plan to include a toy and food items, please check with the teacher if there are any food allergies. Class Leaders usually solicit donations of food, craft supplies and treats/toys for goody bags from the other parents in the homeroom, and some of these items are sent in to school prior to classroom celebration date. Creating a Konstella sign-up or a Sign-Up Genius is a great way to solicit items for classroom celebrations.

Communication with Other Parents: Class Leaders are asked to communicate information to all parents in the homeroom in one of three ways— via a group email list, via text messaging or via Konstella announcements to your classroom only. Please include the homeroom teacher on any emails that are sent to the class, and please be sure to let the homeroom teacher know if any family does not have access to email/text messaging. Class Leaders should not create any type of social media sites (Facebook, etc.) for the homeroom.

Communication with Staff: If you need to contact your child's teacher regarding Class Leader's responsibilities or events, please leave a message with the main office (732-701-1900), send a written note to school, or send an email to the teacher's school email address.

Photography: Parents may not photograph students with personal cameras or devices at school events without permission from the administration or classroom teacher. If the teacher needs photographs of the classroom celebration or special event, the teacher will ask a specific parent to photograph the event.

PTO Sponsored Events: Class Leaders will help coordinate the purchasing of class t-shirts to be used throughout the school year for Field Day, No Child Left Inside Day, and other class activities.

PTO Membership: Class Parents Leaders must be PTO Members. Remember to renew your PTO membership on Konstella each school year.  Alternately, you can send into school a check made payable to “ORSPTO” or cash in an enveloped marked “Attention: PTO - Annual Membership.” Your donation supports all the wonderful things the PTO provides to our school community.
