Congratulations to All

Hello all,
I want to say a huge thank you and congrats to you all. Late last afternoon Governor Newsom signed SB793 into a law. With that signature it is going to be illegal to sell flavored tobacco products including vaping products in the state of California.
Yes!!! We did it. Thank you to everyone who reached out to assemble members and state senators to advocate for this bill. We could not have done it without your support. This journey has brought our whole state and all the parent groups, health professionals, legislators together. We became one to fight big tobacco for our children and community. This is what is called advocacy.
Fremont council has been an active participant in this journey. We started with our city and county. We had the first row seat in all this. I am honored to be part of this journey.  Please feel free to share this news with everyone. Let's celebrate our victory over the greedy companies who are here only to destroy our generations for their own monetary benefits!!!
Congratulations once again and THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.
In other news, Fremont is getting its first Homeless navigation center inaugurated on August 31st. Last year our council participated in sharing a CAPTA resolution that speaks about supporting cities that take steps to address homelessness.
I know it was a very controversial topic in certain areas of Fremont. I understand the sentiments but we have over 770 students without permanent housing in our school district. So homelessness is very close to us. PTA speaks for every child. It is important for us to take steps and help the needy. I am very proud of being a part of  this journey of Fremont. And once CAPTA or national PTA has a resolution, it gives us guidance to speak up in our communities. It is understandable for not everyone to agree with everything but the first sign of a strong community is unity and looking after the most vulnerable members of the community. I hope you all will join me in congratulating the City of Fremont for taking this essential step for those who have the least and need the most.
Please feel free to reach out.
Thank you
