School Year 2026-2027
Good Day P.S. 20 Families,
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness and supporting those affected by breast cancer. According to current statistics, 1 in 8 women and approximately 2,670 men in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year.
Each October, the students of P.S. 20 participate in a friendly fundraising competition to support breast cancer research and awareness. In past years, our school community has raised more than $2,000 for this important cause.
This year, every class has received a collection container for spare change donations. To add a bit of friendly competition, classes will compete in two divisions:
-
3K through 1st Grade
-
2nd through 5th Grade
The class in each division that raises the most money will earn a choice of either a Pizza Party or an Ice Cream Party.
All funds collected will be donated to the American Cancer Society in the name of Clinton Hill School - PS 20.
To show our support throughout the month, students and staff are encouraged to wear pink on Fridays. On October 23rd, we will also hold our P.S. 20 Clinton Hill Breast Cancer Awareness Walk. Classes and grade levels are invited to create signs and chants to help spread awareness, hope, and encouragement.
We kindly ask that you allow your child to bring in spare change donations throughout the month. The fundraising contest will conclude on November 6th.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and support as we come together to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.
Warm regards,
Deborah D. deShong
