Cold Weather Letter To Parents
Wed, Dec 9 1:03pm

Dear PS 20 Families:

Please make sure that your child is properly dressed for the cold weather.

Students will be going outside to play during the cold winter months unless weather conditions cause us to stay indoors.

Current DOE Guidelines state : "Children benefit from vigorous exercise and should be given the opportunity to play outside whenever possible. Unless it is snowing or there is ice on the playground, low temperatures should not be a barrier to outside play, as long as children are appropriately dressed.   The Health Department strongly encourages Principals to maintain outdoor play periods during the vast majority of winter days".

Weather conditions such as, precipitation, ice, wind chill factors and below freezing temperatures that place individuals at risk will be considered when making the decision to stay indoors.

If you have, any questions or concerns contact the school during school hours.

Thank you

Sincerely,

Lena Johnson-Barbera
