March 2026 PTA General Membership Meeting Minutes and Slides

Some highlights in case you missed it:

  • Updates from Principal Blyden:
      -  Congrats to the Debate team and all the readers of Readathon!
      -  Accessibility project - scaffolding is all around the building bc of facade work. The elevator is going near the basketball courts and will affect rooms 102/202/302. The window unit air conditioners will need to be removed for 6 months due to construction dust, we are currently looking into portable units. Trying to get as much work done during summer break as possible.
      -  Arts classes have begun for prek and begining in April for 3k. Ongoing arts instruction for K-5 with Ms Denise. 
      -  Discussion of media literacy and read-alouds in library class.
      -  Let the school and your teacher know if your child has the flu so they can disinfect the classroom.

  • PTA board elections are coming!
      -  Nominations are open and we have many positions to fill! Please nominate yourself or someone else to come help the school.
      -  https://www.ps20.org/pta-elections <-- see positions and nominating info here. We voted to add a Fundraising Coordinators to the board this year. All positions can be co- so you can share the work with someone. Please join us!

  • Upcoming events:
      -  PTA nominations meeting 4/23 and Elections 5/14
      -  3/26 - Makeup and sibling photo day
      -  4/13-17 - Spring clothing drive
      -  5/3 - Gotham FC fundraiser game
      -  5/4-8 - teacher and staff appreciation week
      -  5/15 - PS20 Love Ball! - love ball is coming!  Please help us plan it!
      -  5/29 - Ps20 Talent Show

  • Fundraising and budget
       - Our goal for school end of year is $200k. As of now we are at $104k!
