ICYMI
The NYC School Construction Authority (SCA) wishes to notify you about construction to P.S. 20, at 225 Adelphi Street, Brooklyn NY 11205. All work will be performed by an accredited contractor under the supervision of the SCA and will be completed with the required permits.
- Scope of Work: Full Accessibility, Exterior Modernization- Roofs, Parapets, Exterior Masonry, Playground Renovation & Reso A Green Roof.
- Project Timeline and Hours of Work: The project work is planned to begin shortly and expected completion is Summer 2028. Due to the nature of this work and for the safety of the students, all activities must take place after normal school hours. Weather permitting most construction work will take place on weekdays between the hours of 4:00 PM and 12:00 AM. The SCA operates under permits approved by the Department of Buildings. During school closure, and possibly during the summer and on holidays, work may be completed during daytime hours unless there are programs at the school.
- Abatement: During a comprehensive asbestos investigation, it was determined that asbestos abatement will be required at various stages of this project. Abatement work will be conducted while the building is unoccupied and will strictly adhere to all applicable regulations. A third-partly consultant (Project Monitor) will oversee the abatement contractor to assure asbestos removal is conducted properly and will also conduct air sampling throughout the duration of each project. Air sample results will provide assurance that abatement was conducted properly, and that areas are safe to occupy following completion of asbestos abatement. This information is made available to the school before students and staff are allowed to enter the building.
