Dear PS20 Community,

Hope everyone had a great Families as Learning Partners experience last week.

Thanks for all who were able to bake, volunteer, support and join Octoberfest this past Saturday! All our appreciation to Octoberfest co-chairs, Laurel Pinson and Erika Reid, as well as all the PS20 staff and facilities crew for making it all possible. 

 
ONGOING
  • Lost & Found is at capacity! Pease come by and check the racks and bins located in the passageway between the Cafeteria and Gymnasium. 

  • Cheer on the Brooklyn Nets and raise money for the school - that's a W W ! More info and links to buy tix at ps20.org/bksports. Follow that link also to see Disney on Ice on Jan 17!

 THIS WEEK

  • Sun Oct 20: $20 for 20 or $25 for 2025 -- Become a monthly sustainer by setting up a recurring donation at www.ps20.org/donate

  • Fri Oct 25: Wear SLIPPERS for School Spirit Day and PINK for Breast Cancer Awareness

  • Tue Oct 29: Arts & Crafts Workshop for Caregivers 
  • Thu Oct 31: Annual Literacy Parade - set aside your morning to see your students in a fun promenade around the school building. The Library Committee will also host a Book Giveaway!

COMMITTEE UPDATES

  • PS20 Chess Team just completed their first team tournament last Sunday! Next team tournament will be November 24. Spots for Chess Club on Wednesdays/Thursdays are still open and scholarships are available. https://impactcoachingnetwork.org/chess-club-and-team/ps20 . Join the Afterschool Committee if you have ideas for student enrichment. 

  • The International and Multicultural Families Committee is looking for ambassadors to help us host a Diwali celebration in November. IAMF is also working on continuing a pilot program to provide English language classes for our non-native English speaking families,.

  • Thanks to all who visited the Community Closet pop-up shop at Octoberfest! So many costumes found new wearers. The Community Service & Support Committee will be posting a wishlist of items that the closet can use.
    Reminder: Community Closet is open for 'shopping' every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday after drop-off from 8:30am-9:30am in Room 126 (as always, all items are free).
