Dear PS 20 Families,

PS 20 is currently undergoing a is a multi‑year School Construction Authority (SCA) Accessibility Project. The goal of the project is to upgrade our building and learning spaces to create a more inclusive space for the members of our school community. Our school is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and accessible learning environment for all students, staff, and families. Below you will find additional information regarding the scope of the project.

SCA Accessibility Project

Project Planning & Design: Completed/Underway
Construction Phases: Rolling phases over multiple years to minimize disruption to instruction
Projected Project Completion: 2028

Please note: Timelines may adjust slightly based on construction needs, safety requirements, and permitting. Families will receive updates as milestones are reached.

Scope of Work

The SCA Accessibility Project includes comprehensive upgrades across the building:

Building & Accessibility Improvements

Façade repairs and building envelope upgrades
Installation of a new elevator with access to the roof
Chair lifts to improve accessibility between levels

Interior Upgrades

Fully accessible bathrooms
Improved classrooms designed for accessibility and instructional use
Upgraded auditorium spaces to ensure inclusive access

Outdoor & Sustainability Enhancements

Creation of a green roof
Outdoor learning space designed for instruction, enrichment, and hands‑on learning
