Tuesday December 13, 2022
Wednesday, December 14 will mark the 10 year anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting tragedy. The tragedy took the lives of 20 elementary school children ages 6 and 7, along with 6 school staff adults.
Next Wednesday morning at 9:30 am performance artist george emilio sanchez will hold a commemorative public event that will honor the lives of the children we lost that day.
The event will also include a reading by poet Damion Sanders, as well as, students from the PS 20 Grade 5 Lighthouse Team.
This public event will also address the continuing public health crisis related to the growing impact of gun violence within the United States. Gun deaths in the US have already exceeded over 41,000 and is the highest number of mortalities since these tragic numbers have been recorded.
Please join us at the Willoughby Avenue Open Street next to PS 20 at 9:30 am Wednesday, December 14 as a way for this community to gather in peace and solidarity and to express our commitment to stand together and say:
“A gun death anywhere is a threat to Life everywhere.”
