Sharing Sad News

Dear PS 20 School Community,

I am writing to share some very sad news. Yesterday, we learned that a beloved member of our school community, Ms. Parker‑Marshall, has passed away.

Ms. Parker‑Marshall poured so much love into her students, colleagues, and friends. She was a part of the PS 20 school community since 2001. Teaching was her passion, and she was deeply dedicated to everyone who crossed her path. As a school community, we will support one another and get through this difficult time together.

I have been working closely with Superintendent Meghan Dunn and the district team to ensure that the appropriate supports are in place for our community. Today, counselors were onsite to provide support to members of our school community. In addition, tomorrow, counselors from District 13 schools will be onsite to continue supporting students as they process this information. Staff members are also receiving support from the district during this time.

Below you will find resources to support you as you support your child at home during this time. You know your child best, and we wanted to provide these resources as a helpful guide as you move through this process in a way that works best for your family.
