Family audience & all performers

Face masks encouraged. Guests must complete health screening,

and show ID and proof of at least one vaccine dose.

 

Your child will also receive hard copy details and registration forms in their backpack on Monday.

The mission of the PS20 Talent Show is to give every student an opportunity to experience

the magic of developing and performing their own work to a live audience.

 

KEY DATES

May 23-27: Information and registration forms released. Decide on your act. Begin rehearsing independently.

June 6-10: Auditions

June 13-16: Rehearsals

THURSDAY, JUNE 23, 1pm: TALENT SHOW (PK, 1, 3, 5gr performers & audience)

FRIDAY, JUNE 24, 1pm: TALENT SHOW (3, K, 2, 4gr performers & audience)

FRIDAY, JUNE 24, 6pm: TALENT SHOW (all performers & family audience)

AUDITIONS

  • Grades 3K-2: Week of June 6-10 during your child’s first dance class (ask your child, Mr. Chung, or office)
  • Grades 3-5:, June 6, and Tue., June 7, 2:40-4pm IN AUDITORUM
  • Before audition:
    • Rehearse independently
    • Ask questions in dance or music class
    • Bring registration form completed by an adult
    • Bring props (if using)
    • Singers: practice with an instrumental / “karaoke” version. Perform from memory.
    • Note 3min time limit

 

REHEARSALS

  • One week only! Mon-Thu, June 13-16, 2:40-3:45pm in auditorium
  • All performers MUST arrange to attend AT LEAST ONE rehearsal on stage.
  • Drop-in; no registration necessary.
  • If your child attends after-school on-campus, contact Mr. Chung to authorize pull-out.
  • Coaching will be provided at audition by Mr. Hampton, Mr. Chung, and parent volunteers.
  • BEFORE rehearsing on stage:
    • Ask questions in dance or music class
    • Costumes are recommended
    • Bring props
    • Rehearse independently and be prepared to GO
    • Due to time constraints, each act will only get 6 minutes to rehearse!
  • Sorry: performers who have not rehearsed on stage by June 16 with be cut from program.

 

CRITERIA (What it takes)

  1. Preparedness BEFORE THE AUDITION
  2. Performers should know the title, original artist, and some facts about their performance, genre, and history
  3. PREFERRED:
    • ORIGINAL acts (the performer’s own lyrics or choreography, rather than performing someone else’s music/choreography)
    • ENSEMBLE (group) acts
    • UNIQUE acts (musicians, magicians, martial arts, hula hoop, foreign language, etc.).
