This year the focus is on creating a fun and safe activity for all of our public school communities and to help raise funds for those schools in most need, Brooklyn Title I Public Schools.
Background: The Brooklyn PTA Fun Run is a fundraiser for our public schools. In 2019, the last year we were able to hold the Fun Run (it was canceled last year due to Covid), over 60 schools participated in this charitable event including over 1,000 participants, and together we raised nearly $25,000 to support Brooklyn schools. But this event has become much more than a fundraiser. For over a decade now, the PTA Fun Run has demonstrated the tremendous strength of our local public school communities. Parents, students, and educators have turned out in droves to show what it means to build community and work together on critical issues facing all of our public schools. This year will be even more special as we celebrate school reopening and our ability to gather (outdoors) after so many months of trauma and isolation.
