All PS 372 Students Can Create Their Personal Read-a-thon Accounts Starting Now!

Date: The whole month of February 2021


Mission: A fun school community event, which celebrates reading while empowering students to participate in fundraising for PS 372. All of the money raised will directly fund school programs, 10% of the money raised will go to support our school libraries at both sites.


How it works: Like most things this year, Covid-19 will make our annual Read-a-thon look a little different. Our goal is make this event accessible to every member of our school community. This means that our Read-a-thon is moving online for 2021!


Read-a-thon instructions, reading logs and sponsorship tracking are all available for every student on our Inclusions website ( You can go to now where students can register to participate using their “” email address. Once they have activated their accounts, they will be able to log on to their personal Read-a-thon Dashboard to log their reading, unlock milestone minute badges and track sponsors. We recommend students register their accounts today, but please note that they can only begin logging their minutes on 2/1/2021. Minutes logged outside of the February event time frame will not count for this event.


This is an opportunity to ask family, friends, and co-workers to sponsor students either for an amount per minute of reading, or as a lump sum donation. Donations from sponsors will be accepted online and in the form of checks sent via mail. Students in blended learning will be able to bring in donations from sponsors in the form of cash or checks in an envelope addressed to the PTA of PS 372 / Read-a-thon via backpack on in-person school days.


Students participating in our Read-a-thon log in to their Read-a-thon Dashboards to record their reading minutes (outside of the classroom) each day in their online reading logs. Books count! Reading on a tablet or computer counts! Magazines count! Comics count! Newspapers count! Even homework reading counts! Students who are not reading independently should record the minutes they are read to by an adult (or other independent reader).


Tally Days will be virtual and more frequent so that Team Read-a-thon can report back how participation is progressing. There will still be milestone minute badges, but this year they will be virtual and accessible through each student’s personal Read-a-thon Dashboard. At the end of February, we’ll place students into the appropriate Milestone Minute drawings. Prizes for the milestone minute drawings will be sent via email.


Milestones & Prizes:

  • Every participant in our Read-a-thon will receive a PDF certificate & be entered into at least one prize drawing
  • Students will be awarded virtual badges to showcase Milestone Minutes read (Participation (any amount read), 125 minutes, 250 minutes, 500 minutes & 1000 minutes)
  • Students who participate and reach each Milestone Minute mark will be entered into drawings to win gift certificates for Community Bookstore
  • Classes with the most participation in every grade will choose a new book title for our libraries with Ms. Jackie
  • We are working on virtual prize ideas to award classes who have 100% participation!
