Dear Children's School Families and Community:
The Children's School will host it's first Parent Academy on Saturday, November 18, 2017.
We have invited Border Crossers to come in and train our Kindergarten to 2nd grade parents, PTA Executive Board and our SLT Members.
Border Crossers is a nonprofit organization to train staff and parents in effective anti-racists interventions with our children.
Thank you to PTA who funded most of the training but a good part through fundraising by the Undoing Racism Committee.
Border Crossers utilizes creative tools to encourage educators in explorations of race and racism with K-12 students. We believe that if educators are prepared to have meaningful conversations about equity, students will be better equipped to interrupt patterns of structural racism and injustice in their own lives and thrive in a multicultural society.
There are 50 slots available and the sign up is posted below by clicking on the link. It is a first come first served basis for Kindergarten to 2nd grade families. If we do not get enough participation I will be opening it up to 3rd, 4th and 5th grade families.
Childcare will be available and I will take the first 30 to 35 students.
Also, I have attached two articles for you to read.

We hope that you can join us on Saturday, November 18.
