Dear District 15 Families and Community,


Families and school gardeners are welcome to join a free tour of Gowanus Canal Conservancy's Lowlands Nursery with Garden Train, the school gardens network. 

The tour will focus on the nursery, the new esplanade next door, and local rain gardens that GCC stewards and maintains with staff, students, and volunteers! We'll have some fun giveaways and activities.

Sat., June 15 from 1 to 2 pm


Address: 25 9th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11215 (immediately adjacent to the F/G Smith-9th St. station; if you're exiting from the station, walk to your left and you'll hit the nursery gates)

What to wear:  Closed-toe shoes are recommended

What to bring: Sunscreen/sun protection, repellent, water

Bathrooms: There is a weekly-cleaned porta-potty on the property

Gowanus Canal Conservancy, established in 2006, is the environmental steward for the Gowanus Canal and surrounding neighborhood. The Lowlands Nursery is a mission-based, not-for-profit native plant nursery, with an inventory centering urban-adapted plants. The nursery provides plant materials for individuals and local organizations, including schools, civic institutions, and landscape designers.
