March 5, 6:00 pm Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez is holding a Know Your Rights Workshop in Sunset Park – at Trinity Lutheran Church 411 4th Avenue, Brooklyn.
The Department of Homeland Security has begun implementation of the Trump Administration’s “public charge rule” after nine legal challenges and several court-issued preliminary injunctions were blocked by the Supreme Court (5-4 decision). For immigrants planning to apply for a green card or other immigration benefits, the DHS public charge test may apply, but in many cases doesn’t, and people should talk with an expert for advice before making any decisions. Congresswoman Velázquez is organizing this community forum to help prepare residents and organizations. There will also be information on strategies when confronted by I.C.E. officers.
Please find the attached flyers to share.
