Message from our Science Teachers - Monday, April 8 Solar Eclipse
Thu, Apr 4 10:10am

Dear 372 community,

As you probably know, on Monday afternoon NYC will experience a partial solar eclipse at 3:25 pm.  The science team is teaching students about the eclipse this week and, thanks to the PTA, giving each student eclipse safety glasses, a perforated card, and a paper-plate corona mask for safe and fun viewing.  These materials will be given to students before dismissal on Monday.

The PTA also will have extra eclipse glasses for parents and hand them out at dismissal on Whitwell, Carroll and Denton St doors at the Main Site. Adelphi St will have the materials to send home with students on the bus.  Students who take the bus will have their viewing materials with them in the likely event they are still on their bus when the eclipse occurs.  At the Main Site, Kathy and Beth will host a viewing of the eclipse for After School students.  We invite all families picking up students who walk home to stay and view this event together.  The block behind the school on 1st Street has a nice unobstructed view of the afternoon sky.  If you have a colander or spaghetti pot with with round holes--bring it along. (See photos attached)

Kathy, Beth, Chris and I are all looking forward to this week of eclipse activity.

Let's all hope for good weather and a memorable safe eclipse day!
