Dear Children's School Families:

Did you know our school is designated "Zero Waste" and receives daily food-scrap pick up from the Department of Sanitation?  If you haven't heard, Mayor Adams and Commissioner Tisch  plan for all of Brooklyn to be composting by October of this year and all of NYC by 2024. We are forming a team of parent volunteers to support our children during lunch as they lead PS 372's organics separation effort.

We are seeking volunteers one day/week from 11-1:45 to help students sort their lunch waste properly in the cafeteria. Approx 80% of cafeteria waste can be recycled or composted if separated properly. Composting essentially recycles food scraps and soiled paper products and turns the organics back into a rich and valuable fertilizer.

Our student Green Team has started helping in the cafeteria, but they need more adult support.  Class 2-1 parent Amy amytelsey@hotmail.com has already started helping students on Fridays, and she is ready to help train a small corps of parents supporting students other days of the week.  If you can volunteer , please reach out to her.
