Bios below:

1) Melanie Goldberg (Oliver 4-D/remote)/1 yr term

My son transferred to The Children’s School just two months before schools went remote last year. We came to the school for the academic support and we are continually impressed by the school’s commitment to meeting every child where they are. The TCS school community has been transformative for our family and I am eager to serve on the School Leadership Team as an opportunity to give back in appreciation of this support.

I teach middle school English as a New Language (ENL) and am finishing my 19th year in New York City Public schools. In this role, I have served as Department Chair, UFT Chapter Leader, Equity Team member, Building Response Team member, and many other aspects of school life. I also volunteer with Felt NYC teaching adult literacy and ESL classes as a way to provide access to academic support to all New Yorkers. As a potential member of the SLT, I seek to draw from all of these experiences to serve the mission of the school. Thank you!

2) Traceyann Hill (Avery 6:1:1 Site)

My name is Traceyann Hill. I am the mother of Avery George, who attends the P.S 372 ASD site. I have been a part of The Children's School family since Avery was in kindergarten. Thanks to the school staff I have seen many positive changes in my son over the years. I think it's important for parents to be involved in their children’s school. I also think I will be a great addition to SLT because I know the school very well. I have built great and lasting relationships with faculty members and parents. Lastly, I would love to have input into the school's educational policies to ensure those policies are enacted and to guarantee there are resources to support them. Thank you.

3) Matt Miller (Lola 3-2 & 2 Former Students Lucas & Logan)

My name is Matthew Miller. I'm the dad to Lola (3-2) and 2 former Children's School students currently thriving in Brooklyn Tech HS (Lucas) and MS 51 (Logan). I have 25 years of experience in IT and Operations as a Programmer, Business Analyst, and Project Manager in support of Finance and other functions for 3 different organizations, including higher education. I currently work in the NYC DOE Division of Teaching & Learning for the Office of Assessment.  In this position I am involved in planning for the administration of city and state exams, managing the design and scanning of student answer documents, analyzing student data, and special initiatives to incorporate technology into current assessment processes.

In addition to my professional experience, my credentials include an MBA in Finance and Statistics, membership in Beta Gamma Sigma (international honor society of business students), and I serve as the president of my condo board.  Among my strengths are a logical and analytical approach to problem solving, big picture views of situations and organizations, and exposure to NYC DOE operations.  In particular, I have a strong understanding of how exams and assessments are administered.  I am an advocate for Special Education and related services and a big supporter of PS 372. During my time as a Children’s School parent, I have enjoyed serving on the SLT for a total of 8 years. This will be my final opportunity to be elected for the SLT. I would love to return and serve for our final two years with the Children’s School! Thanks!

4) Luisa Paningbatan (Beatrice 1-3)

Luisa Paningbatan has over 16 years of experience in the field of education.  She currently serves as Director of School Support in the NYCDOE Office of Community Schools managing the team that supports 82 community schools in the Bronx.   She previously served as Director of Teacher Recruitment in the NYCDOE Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality (TRQ).  Luisa participated in the Coro Leadership New York program and currently participates in Results Count, a national leadership program hosted by the Annie E. Casey Foundation.  She served as a sixth grade English Language Arts teacher at MS 301 in the South Bronx and has worked in the Office of Community Partnerships at DC Public Schools.  She earned her Master’s in Public Administration from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, a master’s in education from Bank Street College of Education and a bachelor’s degree in history from University of California Los Angeles.  She loves traveling and spending quality time with her family in Brooklyn. She is a proud mom to Beatrice who is a thriving first grader in 1-3. Thank you!
