PS 372 -The Children's School

Congratulations Readers!

We had a great mid-month tally for our Readathon. Participation is up across the board this year. Here is a listing of the classes with the highest participation in each grade thus far:

PreK tied at 33%
K-3 at 71%
1-2 at 60%
2-1 at 78%
3-3 at 60%
4-1 at 55%
5-1 at 100% (highest in school) Go 5-1!!!

No worries if you forgot to bring your reading log to school via backpack for collection. We are doing the final tally of minutes read on 3/8. We will hand out any badges earned and all participation certificates on that day. Families should total up all minutes read at the end of February and return log sheets and sponsor sheets by Tuesday, March 5th, so that we all ready for the final tally on 3/8.

Those students who have already hit the 1000 Minute Mark - Congrats!!! Yesterday you should have received a 1000 Minute Bookmark. At the end of the Readathon, you will receive your 1000 Minute Mark Badge.

If you need new log sheets or new sponsor sheets, no problem, they are available in the PTA office, and also can be downloaded and printed off the inclusions website.

As a reminder, all participants will receive a certificate, students who reach milestone minute marks (125, 250, 500 & 1000) will receive a badge that recognizes each minute mark and will be entered into a drawing to win a gift certificate to Community Bookstore in Park Slope. There are four gift cards, one for each milestone minute mark. If you reach the 125 mark, you will be entered into one drawing. If you reach the 1000 minute mark you will be entered into four drawings. The class in each grade with the most participation will receive a bookmark and get to help choose a title for our school library. Classes with 100% participation on Final Tally Day will get a pizza party.

Thank you to all our supportive teachers, our wonderful parent volunteers and to all our participating readers. Good luck getting sponsors - ask grand-parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and co-workers to support your child's reading and PS 372.

We look forward to more fun and prizes at the end of our Readathon!

Sincerely,

Team Readathon
