Important Information for the 2020-21 School Year: Class Assignments, Orientation Schedule & Chancellor's Updates
Mon, Sep 14 7:07pm

Good evening P.S. 10 families,

As we know you are more than aware, this has been a challenging time for our staff, our students and their families.  We understand the difficulties that arise as a result of having to balance partial or fully remote accommodations for your children and the concerns that come with sending your children back to school. Please know that we have been working on our end in order to situate and monitor classrooms to make sure they are safe for use, to plan an engaging curriculum for dual learning models that also addressed social emotional needs, and to create schedules based around the unique and diverse needs of our families.

Communication is always paramount to a successful partnership between schools and families and we are constantly examining the ways in which we can do this most effectively.  (Having phones out of service the week we returned certainly didn’t help matters!)  We thank you for your patience during this time and are grateful for the show of solidarity and offers of assistance that have come from so many of you.  In order to make sure that we keep our families up-to-date with any important news as it becomes available, please note that we will be using a combination of Konstella, School Messenger, Remind and our newly updated school website:

We wanted to share the following with you:

  • Please note that you will be receiving your child's class assignment later this evening. We have been working to update every request that was made up right until Sunday evening. Be aware that some changes may not have been processed yet so if you requested a switch to remote and see your child listed with a class assignment that will be reflected as it is updated in the DOE's system.  Again, if you made a request to go fully remote this has been submitted.

  • Additionally, please look for the orientation schedule for September 16th, 17th, and 18th posted on the school website tomorrow.  We are staggering these “Remote Orientations” in order to accommodate those families with multiple siblings.

  • Finally, we have attached the most recent updates from our chancellor.
