Dear PS10 Families,
Chess in the Classroom is starting!
PS10 chess in the classroom will begin next week with 1st and 2nd grades! In the Spring we will start K and 3rd grade programs. The kids will be taught the basics of chess, how to play the game and strategies to succeed.
Chess has been proven to improve focus, decision-making skill, patience, sportsmanship, problem-solving, both emotional and spatial, as well as offering the opportunity to sharpen mental skills while working closely with peers.
Bringing chess into the classroom also gives every student the opportunity to envision what it might be like to join a chess team, to compete in real chess tournaments, and to see chess culture up close.
The PTA is very excited to bring this STEM program to the school. The in classroom program is paid for by the PTA because of your generous donations and work!
Ms. Chocolate is here!
The catalogs have been delivered and the time is ticking! You have a month to collect orders from family, friends, work colleagues, and most importantly grandparents!!! The PTA will make approximately 45% on the gross income - so not only is this is a great way to shop for the holidays you can also support the PTA! There are great prizes for the top sellers and for classes that reach 100% participation! And did you notice, there is a super BMX bike that will be raffled off - sell 5 items and you are entered into the raffle!!
