I Opened a Book
By Julia Donaldson
I opened a book and in I strode.
Now nobody can find me.
I’ve left my chair, my house, my road,
My town and my world behind me.
I’m wearing the cloak, I’ve slipped on the ring,
I’ve swallowed the magic potion.
I’ve fought with a dragon, dined with a king
And dived in a bottomless ocean.
I opened a book and made some friends.
I shared their tears and laughter
And followed their road with its bumps and bends
To the happily ever after.
I finished my book and out I came.
The cloak can no longer hide me.
My chair and my house are just the same,
But I have a book inside me.
Remember to encourage and support our young readers over the school break!
Also, we have to plug our very own amazing fundraiser focused on...READING:

LICE CHECK NEXT WEEK
We are conducting a school-wide Lice Check immediately on return from the winter recess, unfortunately the permission slips did not make it out in time to the classes. Attached to this communication is a PDF document of the form which will allow or withhold the lice check for your child. Parents will need to complete the form in either case. Each child is seen for the cost of $10, we thank parents for their contribution and also ask if they are able, to please sponsor another child.
There is a general PTA meeting next Wednesday at 6:30PM in the school auditorium. Childcare and Pizza will be available in the cafeteria.
LOST & FOUND
Be sure to write your child’s name on their belongings. The lost and found area has been completely cleared. Going forward items left over on the bi-weekly collection dates will be donated or discarded. We will make every effort to return articles of clothing to students, and adults, but we are unable to hold items out of concern for cleanliness and sanitation. Please help us to keep our school clean.
See you soon!
