DISABILITY VS. LANGUAGE BARRIER FOR ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS (ELLS)
February 27, 2018 | 10:00a.m. - 12:00p.m.
For students whose native language is not English, it can be a challenge to distinguish the difference between the process of learning a second language and a disability. In this workshop, we will learn about typical second language learning patterns, ideal learning environments, and the importance of a student’s home language. We will also take a look at how all of these things relate to the disability referral process and a student’s eligibility to receive supports and services.

READ-A-THON – FEBRUARY 2 - MARCH 2
This is the final week for the PS10 Read-a-thon, which is a huge fundraiser for the school. Don’t forget to help students track their books and their minutes while gathering pledges for PS10. As you involve friends and family in sponsoring your child's reading, you can find sample letters and videos at http://ps10.org/readathon.
*NEW* this year: your family has the option to log reading minutes digitally on the MoxieReader app if you choose! Download it and check it out. There is a code for each class that came home in your packets. Ask your class parents or check outside the PTA office if you need to locate your code.
LOST & FOUND
The lost and found area has been completely cleared. Going forward items left over on the bi-weekly collection dates will be donated or discarded. We will make every effort to return articles of clothing to students, and adults, but we are unable to hold items out of concern for cleanliness and sanitation. Please help us to keep our school clean and label all your children’s clothing.
PARENT RESOURCE AREA
The PTA has a parent resource station consisting of a computer and printer for parent use outside of the PTA office in the cafeteria. This area is also where you can find hardcopy forms, signup sheets, and community information from the PTA.
