READ-A-THON – FEBRUARY 2 - MARCH 2

The annual PS10 Read-a-thon, a huge fundraiser for the school and a fun-filled month for all, is coming! Get ready to help students track their books and their minutes while gathering pledges for PS10. If you're interested in helping with prizes, tallying, and communications, please join the Read-a-thon committee on Konstella or email ps10reads@gmail.com. TICKETS LIVE - SCREENING OF WONDER + MEET AUTHOR RJ PALACIO SATURDAY FEBRUARY 10th, 2pm - 6pm

Author RJ Palacio presents the new movie based on her bestselling book, Wonder. The movie screening will be followed by a Q&A and book signing with RJ Palacio. Food and drink available; books for sale on site. All proceeds benefit the PS 10 Visiting Authors Committee. Tickets are available online at store.ps10.org.  Advance: $10/30 (family of 4), At the Door: $15/45 (family of 4). ***No-one will be turned away for lack of funds.

REMINDER - S.T.E.A.M. FAIR – HELP NEEDED – CHAIRS AND VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – URGENT.
STEAM Fair 2018 - Call for Volunteers! Our 4th Annual STEAM Fair is scheduled for May 19th and we need your help! While the event is still a few months away, January is when planning kicks off, so Come to an info session Feb, 1, 8:30 AM, PS 10 Cafeteria and learn how you can participate in this fun, exploration filled day showcasing all things STEAM related. Or join the STEAM Fair Committee on Konstella.   For questions, please contact steamfair@pta.ps10.org

 

LOST AND FOUND NOTICE

The PTA is going to begin helping with the large lost and found area in the auditorium.  Every two weeks we will gather all of the items for donation to a local charity. Items will be laundered before the donation. We need a parent or group of parent volunteers to help with this effort. The laundry is a quick wash and dry – no folding unless you love folding. If you have the time and are interested please reach out to us at pta@ps10.org

 

We urge parents to please write the name of their child on their children’s items to make it easy to identify and return.

Lunchboxes, food caddies, and water bottles will be discarded.

 

BUDGET COMMITTEE – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We need new parents to be seated on our Budget Committee. This committee reviews the yearly PTA budget and makes recommendations to the PTA Executive Board for setting the fiscal budget expectations for the year. This is a critical committee that allows the PTA itself to function and plan accordingly. The committee reviews prior year budgets, spending, and income, and it gives recommendations for the following year. This committee may also review and revise the budget mid-year.

 

TREASURER FINANCIAL ASSISTANT – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We’ve updated our accounting systems and our current treasures need additional help. The Financial Assistant will do bookkeeping across several of the PTA payment, processing, and accounting systems, and help with the monthly reconciliation of items for accurate reporting. This is a work from home/spare time position that will require 3-4 hours per week. Prior bookkeeping experience is not needed. This is a great opportunity to see how the PTA works or a chance to train for the PTA Treasurer role.

 

MERCHANDISE CHAIR AND VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We are looking for a chair and volunteers for the PS10 store and merchandise committee.

REMINDER - REGISTRATION FOR THE 2018 PS10 TALENT SHOW IS NOW OPEN! 
We’re excited to invite PS10 students in grades 2, 3, 4 & 5 to participate in the 5th Annual PS10 Talent Show on Saturday March 10, 2018! 
* 2nd & 3rd Grade Show - 3:00 - 5:00 pm * 4th & 5th Grade Show - 5:30 - 7:30 pm *
To participate, each student needs to fill out a registration form and each act (solo or group) needs to sign up for one audition slot.

COMMUNITY EDUCATION COUNCIL CEC15 MEETING: DISTRICT 15 CAPITAL PLAN PRESENTATION

The School Construction Authority (SCA) will tell us about new schools coming to District 15 and how capital funding works. There will also be a Q&A Session with the CEC after the presentation.

PARENT RESOURCE AREA

The PTA has a parent resource station consisting of a computer and printer for parent use outside of the PTA office in the cafeteria. This area is also where you can find hardcopy forms, signup sheets, and community information from the PTA.

 

PS 10 GRAND READERS PROGRAM
Join us in the PS 10 Library on Thursday mornings to read with our students! All you need to do is show up! We welcome the gift of your time and attention. This event will be every Thursday from 8:30-10:30 AM. Don’t forget to bring your ID to enter the building.
