Tuesday, March 19th |Talking about Testing - 8:30am and 6:00pm
The PTA’s Parent Action Committee welcomes you to join us in discussing the upcoming NY State tests for grades 3-5. We’ll address issues including test refusal (including how to "opt out"), changes in tests and middle school admissions. We’ll have a morning and evening meeting to accommodate more participants. 

Date: Tuesday, March 19th
Time: 8:30am AND 6:00pm
Where: PS10 auditorium 

Please bring your questions and concerns. We hope to provide a constructive discussion to empower parents to make informed decisions. 

 

Friday, March 22nd | STEAM Fair Committee meeting – 8:30am

STEAM Fair Committee Meeting: Please join us for the first STEAM Fair Committee meeting on Friday, March 22nd at 8:30 am in the cafeteria. Our annual fundraiser will be held on Saturday, May 11th and is one of PS 10’s biggest events. We’re looking for enthusiastic people to help with planning a fun and engaging day full of activities for PS 10 families and the community.

 

Saturday, March 23rd | Butterfly Garden Spring Volunteering – 10am

Butterfly Garden Spring Volunteering: Celebrate the arrival of Spring by helping the Butterfly Garden clean up after its winter nap. This community garden and outdoor classroom for our students needs volunteers to get the garden ready to welcome visitors of all ages. Join the fun at the corner of 7th Avenue & 18th Street on Saturday, March 23rd starting at 10 am.


Tuesday March 26th |Title 1 Workshop: Stress and Your Brain – 8:30am, PS10 Library
This workshop will address the mental and physical impact of stress and will explore the neuroscience of what actually happens to our brains when we “stress out.”  Participants will discover how to effectively prevent and cope with stress by learning techniques self-awareness and relaxation.

Lunch & Recess Volunteers – IMPORTANT - PLEASE SIGN UP FOR YOUR VOLUNTEER WEEK

We have rolled out a new schoolwide parent volunteer program which will run from January 7 to March 30, 2019. We need to add helping hands to support PS10 staff during each lunch and recess period in the winter months.

 

A total of three classes per week will share in the work of supervising lunch and recess. We have three lunch periods every day between 11am -2 pm. We will need at least 2-3 parents for each lunch/recess period. Please check with your class parent for more information or reach out to the class parent co-chairs on Konstella.  Please sign up for your recess/lunch period at this link.

Goals for the Volunteers

  • Provide safer and more sanitary environment during lunch period
  • Ensure a more orderly and better organized recess time for all our students
  • Contribute in the work towards offering students choices for indoor recess Increasing the time students spend outdoors
  • Improve the school experience of all PS10 students by strengthening the ties between families and the school

 

PS10 Chess Training Camps – Sign Up for Spring Break Camp

Open to all players and schools. This camp is a perfect combination of group analysis, individual coaching opportunities, daily themed lectures, match play, social play and much more.

Family Giving is ongoing and we welcome any additional donations.

PS 10 is collecting Box Tops!

Looking for an easy way to raise money for PS 10? PS 10 is collecting Box Tops throughout the school year and all the proceeds go to the PTA’s general fund to support enrichment activities for the students. Box Tops coupons can be found on many groceries including Lara Bar, Annie’s, Ziploc, Papermate, various cereals, and many more. Please clip any Box Tops dated after 03/02/19 and put them in the collection box located outside the PTA office. If your child wants to make a fun project out of collecting, go to this link to print out a collection sheet or grab one outside the PTA office.

 

Lost & Found!

Please remember to come and check for your child’s lost items in the back of the auditorium. We will eventually sort and give away clothes that are not picked up. Additionally, a reminder if you’re tired of losing your child's lunchbox, gloves, coats, water bottles, sweatshirts, hats, backpacks, school supplies, etc. you can purchase some labels through the Mabel’s Labels Fundraiser for PS10. Avoid rifling through the lost and found this year and support PS10 at the same time by fundraising with Mabel's Labels!
