UPCOMING EVENTS

Tues., November 6th | Election Day Bake Sale – VOLUNTEERS AND FOOD STILL NEEDED

PS10 will be hosting a Red, White and Blue Bake Sale on Election Day.  The PTA would love some additional volunteers from the parent community to help work the bake sale that day.  Kids are more than welcome to be part of the fun.  We would also welcome any and all baked goods or lunch items to sell and remember it does not have to be homemade! All proceeds from the bake sale will benefit the PS10 PTA and the programs it supports.  Please sign up here to volunteer your time or to donate baked goods or other food items.

Thus, November 8th | Harvest Day Food & Used Toy Drive Kick off

This is the season of giving and PS 10 is teaming up with area charities for our food and used toy drive. From November 8th - 17th, you can bring non-perishable food items (canned goods, baby formula and boxed foods only, please) and your unwanted plastic toys and drop them off in the collection bins in the lobby of PS 10. Our school will donate the collected items to area charities including The Kensington Family Shelter (https://www.camba.org/), an organization providing essential support services to families in need, and Second Chance Toys (http://secondchancetoys.org/), a charity that ensures happy holidays for children who would otherwise not receive any toys. Before donating, please make sure the toys (plastic only) are clean, still work and are no smaller than the center of a toilet paper roll.

Both the food and used toy drives will end on Saturday, November 17th when we hold our PS 10 Gives Back event where families will have the opportunity to participate in multiple volunteer activities. Please help PS 10 and give less fortunate families a happier holiday season.

Thurs., November 8th | Health Education Title 1 Workshop – Where did you hear that

Kids have lots of questions, especially when it comes to bodies and sexuality. Jeremy Hawkins (Chair of the Health Department at Brooklyn Friends School, graduate of Teachers College Columbia University, and Co-Director at Beam Camp, NH) teaches Health and Human Sexuality to grades 4-10, and has been answering those very questions for years. Jeremy will discuss the topics that young people bring up, and share his expertise on how to talk to kids about their bodies, sexuality, and growing up in an increasingly complicated world. Q&A to follow. Pizza, and childcare will be available.

Thurs, November 15th |Teacher Appreciation Feast

Our FALL TEACHER APPRECIATION FEAST is on Parent Teacher Conference Day and we need your helping hands!  More information regarding the feast and specific class assignments in on the way via yellow folders and Konstella. In the meantime, you can sign up to help the day of the feast here! Class parents will be organizing direct donations in the form of homemade and ordered meals from each classroom. Each classroom will be assigned a specific part of the meal. Conferences are such a long and hard day for the school, and the meals and treats offered go a long way and really show how much we value our amazing team of teachers, administrators, and staff! Please help say thank you by volunteering for even just a small part of your day!

Sat., November 17th |  PS10 Gives Back & Family Portrait Day
