PS10 ELECTION DAY BAKE SALE - Tuesday, November 7th
We need your help with baked goods and volunteers, TOMORROW!!
PS 10 will be a polling place for the general election. We will be hosting a bake sale that day to sell some goodies (and raise some money) to those coming into our school to vote. We are looking for volunteers to drop off some baked goods and we are also recruiting volunteers to donate time to help us sell these goodies! So, come on out and give us a hand! Your time and help have been greatly appreciated this year! Sign up here.
PTA GENERAL MEETING – NEW DATE November, 15th – After drop off in the cafeteria.
Please come and join us for the November PTA meeting. This will be a busy day at school with Parent-Teacher Conferences and the Teacher’s Feast, but this a great opportunity to hear from the PTA and the administration. We will have guest speaker Nurse Josephine Allen on hand to talk about the School-Based Lutheran Family Health Center/School Health Program. Principal Laura Scott will also be talking about the upcoming 4th and 5th grade holiday show.

TEACHER FEAST – November 16th
Teacher Appreciation Feast committee is gearing up for our wonderful feast on Thursday, November 16th. Please get ready to cook for our wonderful staff! Information went home in the yellow folder in terms of what each class can contribute to the feast. Class Parents will also have this information available as well.
FAMILY PORTRAIT DAY AT PS.10 – November 18th
On Saturday November 18th PS.10’s Photo Committee is offering families the opportunity to come in for a photography portrait session in the auditorium. There will be a separate online sign-up sheet on Konstella to gauge interest for this opportunity and to secure a spot.
Following the event, pictures will be available on-line for purchase with all proceeds going to the PS10 PTA. More information to come soon!
PS10 BARNES & NOBLE BOOK FAIR
We'll be holding our annual book fair fund-raiser on December 17 (precise hours TBD, but roughly 11am–4pm) at the Park Slope Barnes & Noble, 267 Seventh Ave. Details on author appearances and entertainment to come, but please mark the date, and if you'd like to help out by passing out flyers, gift-wrapping books or leading some kind of crafty/literary thing there, please join the committee on Konstella.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS & UPDATES
MIDDLE SCHOOL MEETING
In response to the letter that Diversity Committee and the Parent Action Committee sent and signed along with SLT (School Leadership Team), District 15 Superintendent, Anita Skop has invited everyone to meet on Monday morning at 8:30am in the Library.
THE DIVERSITY PROJECT
This is a year–long cultural exhibit highlighting ancestors within our PS10 families who helped define your family’s path. Maybe you have an ancestor who was the first to vote in US elections, graduate from college, or start a family business? Email a brief story of 200 words or less telling us their name, date of birth/death, and their story of trial, triumph and/or tribulation along with (1) hi-resolution, scanned photo of your ancestor and (1) hi resolution, scanned photo of your student to email@example.com. No smartphone photos please. Please submit a letter granting permission for use along with your photograph. Entries will be reviewed for inclusion in a year–long exhibit showcasing family stories, and as coffee table book to be sold as a fundraiser. Third round of submissions are due November 15, 2017. Photo scanning support available. Please participate! What a powerful affirmation of inclusion this will be for our children!
WELLNESS COMMITTEE is hoping to offer 60 teachers 10-minute massages on November 15th! We are asking all parents to donate $1-2 per child to help make this happen… simply place $1-2 in an envelope, label it “Teacher Wellness” and place in your child’s yellow folder. Please ask teachers to submit “Teacher Wellness” donations to the PTA office.

Each week the PTA will ask for volunteers to help us with tasks needed to help support the school, from paper sorting and greeting, to sign-ups and raffle basket building. Please look for the signup sheet on Konstella - every little bit helps our community.
